Happy new year! While Yvo was on the phone with his parents, I grabbed the camera to make some close-ups of a spider. This spider has family in every room of our house, so it seemed like a good idea to find out which family we’re dealing with. Our house, so it would appear, is invested by Lampona, or the Lampona murina, to be more precise. For those of you that aren’t into Arachnology, this species is also known as White-tailed spiders, or those-horrible-monsters-that-hide-in-your-stuff-especially-your-underwear-to-bite-you-after-you-had-a-nice-shower. Fun, right!? This is how they look in their quite-terrifying-but-not-that-harmfull-phase.

Happy newyear jongens
Hebben ze dan ook een gevaarlijke staat? On second thought, never mind, I do not want to know. Any chance of convincing them you are taking over control of the house and telling them to shove it and leave?
As long as you do not have this one in your house: “The golden orb weaver (Nephila edulis) is one of the biggest spiders found in Australia. Their webs are so large that they can be spotted on a long distance both because of their size but also because of their yellow-golden color. Females are much larger than males and can reach a length of 4.5 cm or 1.3 inches”.
